El titular del Ministerio de Educación y Ciencias (MEC), Ricardo Nicolás Zárate Rojas, confirmó este jueves que la exministra de la cartera educativa Marta Lafuente, de 54 años, falleció tras una larga batalla contra el cáncer.
Al darse a conocer su fallecimiento, el profesor Miguel Marecos, presidente del Sindicato Nacional de Directores (Sinadi), mencionó que la exministra estuvo internada durante más de un mes por complicaciones debido a su enfermedad. Señaló que Lafuente mantenía su enfermedad y tratamiento de forma muy discreta.
“Se fue una mente brillante del país. Lamento muchísimo”, dijo el titular del Sinadi.
Marta Lafuente estuvo al frente del Ministerio de Educación desde el 15 de agosto de 2013 hasta el 5 de mayo de 2016, durante el gobierno del expresidente Horacio Cartes.
Por el momento, no hay más datos sobre el lugar y horario del entierro.
